Introducing London’s First Urban Rollerskating Dance Competition 2025

Dec 08, 2025

So… have you heard the latest? London is about to host its first-ever Urban Roller Skating Dance Competition on Tuesday 23rd December 2025 [Hosted by Roll’n Boogie] and honestly, I cannot wait!

A few months ago, I was approached to join the panel of judges, and I can’t lie — I didn't need to think it over. What an honour! If this event brings even half the energy of the Jam Skating Competition that took place at Roller Nation a couple of years back, then trust me… we’re all in for a real treat. That event was top-tier fun, and good energy — skaters supporting skaters, the vibes, the talent, the creativity — it was pretty unforgettable.

We already know, that this new Urban Roller Skating Dance Competition will bring its own blend of creativity with:

✅A new line up of competing skaters

✅ A fresh judging panel

✅ A new line up of sponsors

✅ A range of roller skate products + services up for grabs

✅ A fresh new showcase for London's fast growing urban skate scene!

Meet the Judges

This year’s panel brings together a mix of rhythm, flow, flavour, and technical expertise:

  • Judge Kelly: [Lead coach at Skate Base London] will appraise skating Technique. Kelly will be keeping a sharp eye on the performers technical ability/control, balance, agility and use of a range of skating techniques.
  •  Judge Rachel: [Actor and Drama Therapist] will appraise  each performers characterisation. Rachel will be looking at who is able to bring that fully charged performance energy, as well as how skate themes and ideas are communicated.

  •  Judge Nana & Bobo: [aka BONANA: London's lovable street skating duo] will appraise the performers originality and flair. Bobo and Nana will be on the look out for that fresh and inventive footwork and unique flow.

  • Judge Amir: [aka Skate Tingz] will get busy appraising the performers overal technical and creative execution. Amir will be assessing the level of movement quality, slickness of transitions and fluidity of flow.

  • Judge Ashleigh: [Dance Teacher and Choreographer] will appraise each performers use of space, timing, musicality and overall expression.

  •  Judge Shaz: [Fashion Designer] will be appraising the performers attire. Shaz will be looking for those fresh fits that display a certain creativity in reflecting the performers chosen dance theme.

Each judge will give each dance performance score out of 10 points. The points will then be combined to give each competitors or team of competitors an overall score. The skater or team of skaters with the highest score will be declared the winner!

What to Expect

Competitors will have 45 seconds to throw down their best rhythm skating moves in front of the judging panel and live audience of roller skaters, and [no doubt enthusiastic] supporting crowd. Each performance will be judged across the following areas:

☑️ Technique

☑️ Originality

☑️ Characterisation

☑️ Musicality

☑️ Execution

☑️ Attire

Whether the performers strength is footwork, flow, body movement, musical interpretation, or the most creative of freestyle flavours — there's room for everyone to have their moment to shine. Anything can happen during this upcoming live battle!

There is of courses a nice sekection of prizes uo for grabs on the night. 1st place prize of £600 plus trophy's and skate wear merchandise for 2nd and 3rd place. In the event of a tie break there will be a skate off [just to keep the excitment level up].
